A few people have been posting up photos of their bookcases at home and they are all so beautiful.
I dream of having my own library one day solely to one day be able to say to friends: “Shall we move to the library for a brandy?” Our current book shelves are cheap Billy bookcases from IKEA. We have run out of space to the point where we are doubling up rows of books per shelf and some of the shelves have begun to bend as a result. I am too ashamed to include a photo so I have decided to link to this Staircase Library which an architect designed for an Austrian couple living in London.
This Staircase Library brings out the inner child in me who loves secret rooms and secret passages and magical places like in Harry Potter when Hagrid taps the brick wall to enter Diagon Alley. I also like the way the architect has made use of what would usually be a useless place.
what an interesting design…thanks for this!
Oh…my heart is doing flip flops!
That is so awesome!! We also have overflowing bookshelves and I’ve been racking my brains for ideas on how to fit all the books into our new house plans – I may just have to steal the staircase idea!
Good lord 0_o I want one! That is impossibly awesome.
I love it, and you have put your finger on why. It’s a secret passage, with something to find at every level. Thanks for cheering up my day!
That’s fabulous! I love it
that’s killer
